OK, heres a bug quite much more important than my previous January post. (Which was mysteriously, unanswered. Too big? Nothing to say? Too hard to answer?).
I am using the March 9 client. If I use windowed mode, the chat box is cut off. Yes, cut off. Totally disappearified. I cant see the box, much less even see the all of the history. So I have to type blind. Not good. Well, I switch off by Quick start tool bar. Still no good. I can only see the edge of the the chat history box... provided I the window border (the gray strip on the title bar) is invisible and the edge of is otherwise not totally working either. I can see the top of the chat box if I move the window so that I cant see the title. Oh yeah! If I let Windows completely hide the task bar, AND move the window to the absolute top, THEN I get enough space to see the chat box with a little room to spare. Please fix this! This is completely ridiculous. Oh, and my screen size is 1024x 768. Being the official DoI resolution, its ridicolous how it doesnt work at it.
Oh, and for convenience, can you change it so that we dont have to press Enter to begin typing, and then Enter again to insert message? Attempts to type message before pressing Enter will result in invalid rocket errors. Those should be fixed too, methinks. _________________ Animated movie Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron Talkback: http://www.dreamworksfansite.com/talkback/forumdisplay.php?forumid=10 |

Regarding the chat convention ([ENTER] type message [ENTER]), I think this is a good way to do it. If you didn't have to type [ENTER] to start typing a message, think about it: you would engage autopilot every time you press a, cloak every time you press u, land every time you press l, jump every time you press j...that would be pretty bad. Had you not considered this, or are you talking about something different? We could change it to [T] type message [ENTER] or [Y] type message [ENTER], which is more like how EV and most multiplayer games do it. _________________ portfolio |

I agree with Bob on the [ENTER] issue; since we probably wouldn't assign that key to anything else it seems apropos to use it for chat.
As for 1024x768: we already decided that 800x600 was too small to use effectively, so 1024x768 will be our smallest size (other than for debugging purposes). Of course you shouldn't expect to be able to see the whole 1024x768-pixel screen if you have other things occupying some of that space (e.g. the taskbar). DoI was meant to run in fullscreen mode anyway. _________________ ~Vulcan4096 |
